    Version 1.01 - Released 8/7/2004 11:04 PM USA CST

  • I sped up the scrolling speed of the time line.
  • I fixed a few gramatical errors in the text of the game.
  • I moved the outer boxes in a little closer to the middle on the 1997 game.
  • I made the 1997 game bullet shoot a little farther.

    Version 1.02 - Released 8/8/2004 4:01 PM USA CST

  • I adjusted the game to make it easier to play. Previously, the computer would commonly build up a wall of boxes that the user couldn't get through. I changed the 1987 game, 1992 game and 1997 game to make this happen much less often.

    Version 1.03 - Released 8/8/2004 9:52 PM USA CST

  • I added a couple of new items to the timeline.
  • I fixed a bug that left the bullet from the 1997 game at the bottom of the screen in the 1992 game.

    Version 1.04 - Released 8/9/2004 10:30 PM USA CST

  • I fixed a bug that was introduced in Version 1.03. In the 1987 game, the left-most box would sometimes come down an orb instead of a box.
  • I added more items to the Time Line, such as the invention of OpenGL, DirectX, and BlitzBasic for the Amiga.
  • I added a panel to the side of the game that tells you what color of orb that you are after.
  • When you beat both the easy and hard game, now it says "You got all the items", where before it said "You got some of the items".

    Version 1.05 - Released 9/17/2004 11:19 PM USA CST

  • I corrected the title and the year of the Id's Wolfenstein game in the Timeline.
  • I added an award picture "3rd Place Winner" to both sides of the ACoders Competition logo.

    Version 1.06 - Released 10/23/2004 3:37 PM USA CST

  • I made the program exit and unload nicer. Now, the screen goes black, and it only unloads objects that it loaded.


    Version 2 Beta 1 - Released 8/17/2004 12:10 AM USA CST

  • I removed the 1977 game.
  • You can now shoot time orbs to make them dissappear.
  • I changed the program so the player cannot hold down the spacebar to keep shooting bullets anymore.
  • The player will stay in each time zone now until they get all 6 colors in the correct order.
  • When the player gets a wrong color out of order, they will only lose 1 color instead of going all the way back to red.
  • You move through time cronologically now instead of randomly.
  • I added an event about the Spectrum system to the Time Line

  • I added a sunset background to the 1997 easy game.
  • I added a moonlit background to the 1997 hard game.
  • I added some better Crash graphics provided by Manticore Night to the 1992 crash sequence
  • I added an event about André LaMothe's book to the TimeLine

  • I added a 3D model explosion effect, provided by Manticore Night, to the 1997 crash sequence
  • I added Manticore's name to the credits
  • I replaced the music for the 1982 game with a longer version of the song. Now, intead of a 13 second repeating track, it is 1 minute and 23 seconds.
  • I replaced the music for the 1992 game with a longer version of the song. Now, intead of a 27 second repeating track, it is 1 minute and 51 seconds.
  • I noticed that there was no info for 1990 in the Timeline. I added info about the NEO·GEO.

  • I added the number of lives to the panel that is on the right side of the screen.
  • I added White orbs to the game. When you get a White Orb, you will get an extra life. However, the game will limit you to five lives.
  • I added information about Gauntlet to the Video Game History Timeline.

    Version 2 Beta 5 - Released 10/5/2004 12:04 AM USA CST

  • I added a new difficutly to the game. Now, there is Easy, Medium and Hard.
  • I added brown orbs to the game. If you shoot at or drive into a brown orb, you will lose all of your collected orbs, and you will have to start over at red.
  • I added information about early games to the timeline, such as the Odyssey, Intellivision and Vectrex.

  • I added a picture of the Minneapolis skyline to the 1997 easy game.
  • I added a picture of the London skyline to the 1997 medium game.
  • I reworked the car speeds for the 1992 and 1997 games, in order to make them easier to play.
  • I made the program exit and unload nicer. Now, the screen goes black, and it only unloads objects that it loaded.
  • I added information about Q-Bert to the timeline.

  • I made the 1987 car smaller, to make it less likely to crash into a box when players are trying to squeeze through.
  • I added new sky backgrounds to the 1987 game. On easy, the backdrop is Mount Hood, in Oregon. On Medium, the backdrop is a Jamacian beach, complete with moving trees! On the Hard mode, the backdrop is downtown Syndey, Australia.
  • I added new sounds to the game. When you get a wrong color, which makes you lose an orb, an appropriate sound is played. Also, a sound plays when you get a white orb.
  • I added info about MIDI and the Macintosh to the Timeline.

  • I reworked the 1987 Easy graphic of Mount Hood, to make it look more like what you would expect from 1987.
  • I changed the 1987 Medium game's graphic to be the scene of Ancient Egypt.
  • I changed the 1987 Hard game's graphic to be the scene of the Moon.
  • I added the ability for the player to override the 1982 background graphic and the 1987 background graphic.
    To override the 1982 background graphic, the player must put a bitmap image that is 640 x 480 pixels named "1982.bmp" in the same directory as the game.

  • I added a new Tripped Out mode to the game. This new mode is more difficult than the Hard mode, and it includes special effects to try to "trip you out".
  • I added info about EverQuest, the GameBoy Advance, and the PSP to the timeline.
